Lobsters made to pay for first half mistakes as their unbeaten league run comes to an end.

It's been a bad week for Reds, Tuesday evenings exit of the Red Records Premier Cup at Abbey Rangers was yesterday followed up with another defeat, this time by free flowing Southall.

It was an uncharacteristic display from Gavin Gordon's men who in truth never got going, and were well beaten. The game didn't start well for home team, they were behind inside 4 minutes, Darreon Mark opening the scoring for the visitors with a neat finish, who started very brightly at Kiln Brow.

The Lobsters needed to get going, and on 12 minutes against the run of play were level, a good cross evaded Vickers in the Southall goal and Wale Odedoyin looped his header home. The goal wasn't the wake up call the Reds needed though and they were behind again 7 minutes later, some slack defending gave Darreon Mark time to shoot, his shot parried into the net by David Trivino.

It was a long way back for the Lobsters just past the midway point of the first half, as more poor defending left Ryan Hope with space outside the area, he fired his shot into the right hand corner to give the visitors a two goal cushion at the break. The Reds did nearly have a lifeline a minute before the break as Kery Kedze broke through but his shot was well blocked.

Redhill improved slightly in the second period, but without ever testing Vickers, a Lewis Taylor header was straight at the keeper and was probably the Reds clearest chance. The Lobsters looked more like their assured selves at the back, as Southall found it more difficult to create chances after looking so dangerous on the counter in the first half.

The visitors did have the ball in the net on 84 minutes but the flag was up for offside, it looked as though the scoring was complete as the clock ticked over the 90 minute mark, but unfortunately for the Reds it wasn't, as Southall looked for a fourth they were awarded a spot kick and Ashley Nzala calmly slotted home past Trivino to round off a great days work for his team.

The Lobsters will have to lick their wounds and bounce back with Tuesday night's Southern Combination Cup tie at Cobham, followed by a big league game away at CB Hounslow on Saturday, one positive for the Reds was they stayed 3rd after some other results went their way.
