It was another frustrating afternoon for the Lobsters on their first visit to Cobham since the league Cup triumph.

Cobham 0 Redhill 0 - Saturday, 26th March 2022

Redhill returned to the Leg O'Mutton Field in Cobham on Saturday, the scene of last season's great triumph where we beat Ascot United on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes to lift the Premier Challenge Cup. This time a battling 0-0 draw earned the Lobsters a Premier South point against mid-table Cobham FC.

We arguably did enough in the last half-an-hour, particularly following the introduction of free-scoring winger Jamarie Brissett as a substitute, to have gone home with all three points. But in the first half on a typically hard end-of-season pitch, with the ball so often at head height, the visitors had only managed to create a couple of meaningful chances. Lee Norman grabbed Jason Kaate's firm right-footer at the second attempt and returning skipper Joe Dyett missed narrowly with a glancing header from a James Jewers free-kick out on the left.

The Cobham "Hammers", similarly, had rarely looked like beating Jack Minchin - making his 102nd competitive appearance for the Reds - though one close-range effort was marginally chalked off for offside and Reis Stanislaus's know-how at centre-forward made him a constant threat in and around the box. There were bookings galore as the tackles flew in but Redhill finally started to look like winners as Brissett and Derick Hayford took turns to torment the home defence down the flanks. Our best chance came ten minutes from time as a low free-kick from a central position by Jewers, one of the midfielders making his debut, smacked against a post.

The Reds have only picked up two points from the last three games but stay in the top six.
