Redhill 2-2 Windsor

Redhill earned their first point of the season with a vintage performance that could have been a victory if not for the Windsor goalkeeper Carl Dennison, who denied the Reds on many occasions.

Redhill recently made the bold decision to bring in two “Caretaker Coaches” following last weekends’ news of Perry Goughs resignation. Assistant Darrell Teasdale was still in the dugout and he was joined by two faces familiar with Redhill supporters in former Manager Mike Maher and player Gavin Gordon. Both with Redhill during the promotion campaign of 2012/13.

The two had been busy in the market to mould a squad capable of scoring some goals and getting some points on the board whilst the club assesses its next move. Goals and finally, a point, has already been delivered. Some of those players are also familiar with Kiln Brow, including Fiachra McArdle, Chamal Fenalon and Leo Mazzone, among others.

Redhill took the lead on 24 minutes when Gareth Chendlik, who made his debut away at Guildford, had an easy tap in following some brilliant work down the left side and a cross by Alex Rose.

Just three minutes later, Carl Dennison made the first two of his excellent stops of the afternoon, denying Redhill twice in the space of seconds at close range.
From that move, the visitors flew up the other end of the pitch and were awarded a penalty, which Kyle Lucas converted.

Windsor took the lead just after half time with a goal smashed home by Wayne Harvey, and despite plenty of Redhill attacks, it looked as though that was the end of the goals for this game, leaving Redhill pointless.

Redhill Sub Ulric Campbell went close by scraping the bar late on, Chendlik was in an excellent position and may have been frustrated by not receiving the ball, however, Campbell proved his worth on 89 minutes when he slotted the ball under Dennison after a clever one-two, giving Redhill something to cheer and something to build on.

Redhill face Raynes Park Vale at Kiln Brow on Saturday and then entertain Horley Town on Tuesday, also on home turf.
