Tom Copes U18s were beaten by Meadow Sports on Sunday.

The Sunday U18s took on Meadow Sports, a known banana skin for the lobsters as they played them a number of times last season.

The Reds started the better side, just, with Meadow Sports pressuring the Reds back line well and forcing Redhill into long balls. The Lobsters broke free from midfield after intercepting the ball on the half way line. Sam Tutt with a great run forwards and they found themselves 3 on 1. A certain goal?! Rahman was squared the ball, faked a shot before sliding his striker partner Rhys in for his first of the game!

Meadow Sports weren’t phased and kept working hard to win the ball, knowing that Redhill had mistakes in them. And this soon payed off. A corner after a misplaced back pass lead to a Meadow striker running in and flicking the ball past the keeper to make it 1-1. Half time soon followed.

The second half was a disaster. Mistake after mistake meant that Meadow had turned the game around and were 4-1 up in a short space of time. Redhill had 20 minutes to turn the game back around. Striker Rhys worked tirelessly up front and created himself a half chance which he took. He made it 4-2 and with now 10 minutes on the clock there was a glimmer of hope that the Reds desperately wanted.

Meadow took back control of the game. Drawing in fouls and running down the clock to see the game out. Their large celebration at the end showing how much of an upset this result was. The young lobsters have a long list of things to work on now and have to work very hard to turn around their performance to winning ways.

Their next game is against Worcester Park, a team Redhill know little about and have never played before. So an interesting game is on the cards!
