An entertaining game at Kiln Brow saw the Lobsters go down to a 4-3 defeat.

Barry Wilde's Redhill had won three on the bounce - against Guildford City, Molesey and Abbey Rangers - but they couldn't quite keep the run going as they went down 4-3 to Spelthorne Sports in Saturday's thriller at the Brow.

Spelly were second in the Combined Counties League Premier Division table, with Redhill still in the bottom half, but it was the Reds who enjoyed a positive start to the match in blustery conditions and central defender and skipper Jon Trotter could have notched a hat-trick in the first eight minutes! His first effort was deflected behind for a corner, his second was grabbed by visiting 'keeper Poule and the third was a header from Ben Ewing's free-kick that just cleared the bar.

Spelthorne had only threatened once or twice before they moved the ball along the edge of Redhill's box on 28 minutes to allow Frost, in plenty of space, to shoot low into the left-hand corner. Mo Diakite and Gary Abisogun soon had chances to level but elected to shoot when team-mates were perhaps better placed. Then Monteiro turned in the box following a corner and rifled the ball through a crowd of players and into Jack Minchin's net for 2-0 a minute before the break.

The next goal was obviously going to be crucial and the Reds finally got it on 69 minutes. Evan Lopes had just been switched to the left flank when he burst past three defenders, a blur of twists and turns, before being upended by the 'keeper for a penalty which the winger himself converted. Three minutes later there was a barely discernible push inside Redhill's box and Monteiro slid home a Spelly spot-kick for 3-1.

An already eventful second half then had a breathless finale with three more goals in the last ten minutes. Substitute Marcus Travers pulled a goal back for the Reds with a close-range header, Monteiro fired home the third penalty of the match after a handball for his hat-trick and Matt Mackenzie lashed in a third for Redhill in added time after the leaping presence of Diakite had caused Poule to knock the ball down invitingly into his path.
