Redhill 5 Chipstead 0 - Monday, 26th August 2024
Rampant Redhill put five goals past local rivals Chipstead and also hit the post three times in Monday's Premier South fixture at Kiln Brow. A point behind leaders Knaphill with two games in hand, they are the only team in the division still on maximum points. The Lobsters have also rattled in an impressive 21 goals in competitive games so far this season.
They were ahead in four minutes against Chips, Nathan Hogan shaping to cross from the left before fizzing in a right-footer that beat Harvey Keogh at the near post. An Ethan Ford volley from distance doubled the lead on 20 minutes and midfielder Sean Swift swooped to make it 3-0 after the 'keeper had parried Ford's free-kick close to half-time.
Chips, who were relegated from the Isthmian South Central Division last season, put together some decent attacks in the second half but the game would end disappointingly for them. Substitute Richesse Mvioki was sent off for violent conduct on 88 minutes and their ten men went on to concede two more goals in added time.
Hogan sent in a perfect cross from the right for the flying Alex Keating to power in a header and the youngster then drilled home a fifth after Adam Grant had played him in.
In addition to those five dazzling goals Tom Harland-Goddard saw two efforts strike a post, one of them a diving header, and Ford also hit the woodwork with a fierce shot from outside the box. An excellent display by the Lobsters delighted a crowd of 164 that included former England player and Crystal Palace manager Steve Coppell.
