Lobsters back to winning ways with home win against Horley Town

Redhill 2 Horley Town 0 - Saturday, 1st March 2025

Redhill beat Horley Town 2-0 in Saturday's local derby at Kiln Brow to regain top spot in the Premier South with just seven games still to play. They now hold a three-point advantage over Jersey Bulls, who won at Guildford, and previous pacesetters AFC Whyteleafe who were playing in the FA Vase.

The Lobsters are still unbeaten at home in the league this season with 13 wins and two draws. Saturday's clean sheet was their eleventh at the Brow.

Redhill, who have already secured a place in the play-offs and have promotion very much in their sights, were almost a goal up in two minutes against Horley on a spring-like afternoon before a huge crowd of 380. Veteran 'keeper George Hyde dropped the ball under pressure from Seb Tauta-Caballero and defenders had to rush back to guard the goal as Ethan Ford fired narrowly wide.

The first half ended goalless without any obvious chances at either end but the Lobsters grabbed a precious lead barely a minute into the second period. Tauta-Caballero flicked the ball across from the left and Nathan Hogan got in front of a defender to turn the ball in from close range for his 26th strike of the season. But a clinching second goal was a long time coming as Horley attacked in numbers with nothing to lose and could easily have levelled.

Eight minutes into added time, with the strain of holding onto that narrow lead starting to show, the tireless Hogan sent a free-kick into the goalmouth from the right and substitute Adam Grant glanced a header into the top corner.
