Lobsters go top.

Redhill 3 Tadley Calleva 0 - Saturday, 9th August 2025

Sam Morgan's Redhill beat Tadley Calleva 3-0 in Saturday's Premier South fixture at Kiln Brow. They have six points on the board after their first two games of the league season and have already rattled in eight goals in an encouraging start to the new campaign.

Tadley, from Basingstoke in Hampshire, have usually been difficult opponents and they attacked in numbers from the start on a warm afternoon. They created a number of chances, particularly from a barrage of corners and long throws, as Redhill's defence had to constantly block shots and head away crosses. Right-back Kieron Farmer did manage to hit the bar with one effort.

Lobsters' skipper James Dillon was in top form in goal and he and his under-pressure team-mates were rewarded for their resilience with a goal very much against the run of play on the half-hour. Paddi Harland-Goddard's corner from the left picked out Alex Laing and his header hit a defender on the line before the experienced midfielder lashed the rebound high into the net.

Into the second half it still looked more likely that the Tadley "Romans" would equalise than Redhill would increase that slender lead. But the Lobsters proceeded to delight the home crowd with an unexpected burst of two goals in five minutes just after the hour.

Laing, also the first-team coach, cleverly threaded the ball through a crowded box from the left for an unmarked Jayden Smith to turn it in at the far post. Then Harland-Goddard had several options when he was clear on the right and set up Troy Walters for a third Redhill goal moments after the striker had come on as a substitute.

The Lobsters defended heroically after that and kept their goal intact. On Saturday 1th they are away to Abbey Rangers in the Premier South.
