Knaphill 1 Redhill 5 - Tuesday, 29th July 2025
A new-look Redhill side, now with the experienced Sam Morgan at the helm, made a superb start to their Premier South campaign with a 5-1 win at Knaphill on Tuesday night.
The Knappers finished seventh in the table last season and had made it into the play-offs the season before that. But they were up against it after a first 20 minutes in which skipper James Glover was booked and midfielder Rami Halloufi was then sent off for a late challenge. The highly-motivated Lobsters took full advantage, scoring twice in one eight-minute spell to lead 2-0 at the break.
Alex Laing, also the first-team coach, put Redhill ahead on 34 minutes before Jayden Smith calmly slotted home the second from Paddi Harland-Goddard's cross. Five minutes into the second half the rampant visitors increased their lead, Malachi Mullings being perfectly placed to score after an initial Redhill shot appeared to hit home 'keeper Harvey Keogh on the head.
Ben Jordan's firm strike from distance was pushed away by Keogh on 66 minutes but just a minute later the Lobsters were awarded a spot-kick which Troy Walters confidently converted for 4-0. The Knappers did manage to pull a goal back against the run of play through substitute Sid Cannon before the visitors, still committed to attack, completed the scoring with a second penalty. Substitute Blake Loyza did the honours this time with three minutes left on the clock.
Redhill are in FA Cup action on Saturday with a home tie in the Extra Preliminary Round against North Greenford United (3pm).
