Match Report - Tooting & Mitcham Utd v Redhill

Clinical finishing from the Lobsters

Tooting & Mitcham United 1 Redhill 5 - Saturday, 18th November 2023

Jordan Clark's Redhill continued their excellent run of form on Saturday with a storming 5-1 win against Tooting & Mitcham at Imperial Fields. What made their victory all the more impressive was that the "Terrors" have the same play-off aspirations as Redhill and were only one place below them in the table.

The Lobsters have won five and drawn one of their last six matches and scored 18 goals. But they had to wait 24 minutes before opening their account on Saturday, Fin Roberts' left-footer soaring into the net after some clever interplay just outside the box.

Then Redhill shocked a crowd of 230 with two more goals in the next four minutes. Gavin Quintyne hit a hopeful cross towards the far post that seemed to be going out for a goal kick but Tyrese Sutherland's possibly wind-assisted volley from near the byline dropped in under the bar. An Adam Grant goal completed that crazy spell as he slotted past former Reds 'keeper Tom Theobald after Rhys Wyborn had slipped the ball through to him.

Two minutes before the break Roberts fired in a similar goal to his first for 4-0. But Tooting changed their shape and were tighter in defence in the second half, restricting the Lobsters to one more goal as Sutherland ran with the ball from the halfway line before planting a left-footer past Theobald's right hand and into the bottom corner. On 90 minutes Tooting's Shay Brennan scored his 17th goal of the season, one that wasn't really much of a consolation.
