We look ahead to our CCL - Premier Division clash with CB

Article - David Barber (club historian)

Redhill can start to move up the Combined Counties League's Premier Division table if they grab the three points on offer against CB Hounslow United at Kiln Brow tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

The "CB" stands for Cater Bank, a company that was owned by the father of the club chairman and was also the club's sponsor. The club was formed in 1989, initially playing in the Hounslow & District League, and has no connection with the "Hounslow FC" who Redhill used to meet regularly in our Athenian League days.

CB Hounslow currently lie in 16th place in the table, three places and just three points above the Lobsters. Their only league win to date came against bottom side Molesey who they beat 5-0 at home. They are still in this season's FA Vase, with victories on penalties over British Airways and Easington Sports setting up a First Round Proper tie at our neighbours Horley Town tomorrow week.

CB Hounslow finished near the bottom in the curtailed 2019-20 season and Redhill beat them home and away with both matches being played in November. The Lobsters gave a sparkling performance as we won 4-1 at Green Lane with Williams (2), Lopes and Joseph on target and it was Lopes (2) and Diakite who contributed the goals in our 3-0 win in the return at the Brow.

Odd fact: None of Redhill's last 46 matches has ended in a draw, a run that stretches back to April 2019. Two matches went to extra-time and one was decided on penalties.
