Redhill found a winning formula in poor conditions at Mile Oak.

A goal in each half put the Reds in the hat for the 2nd round of the Vase. Jon Trotter and Fred Hill made the trip down to the Sussex coast a successful one.

Barry Wilde had Abi Bolagi back in the red and white of Redhill after re-signing for the club, Tony Martin was back from injury and Gary Abisogun started further forward for the Lobsters in the number 9 position.

There was an even start to the cup tie but the Reds enjoyed more of the ball and found the lead on 15 minutes, a long throw by Matt McKenzie found Jon Trotter at the back stick and he planted his header into the far corner to give Redhill the lead.

Both sides had good chances after the goal, Oak going close through Anderson who's shot went wide of Jack Jack Minchin's upright. Then a Reds effort was spilled by Stenning who made up for his mistake on the follow up making a smart stop to keep the score at 1-0.

The home side were level 4 minutes before the break, Jack Phillip's smashing home left footed after a goal mouth scramble, when the Reds failed to clear a corner. Both teams again had chances to take the lead early in the second half, the Reds going close with a header and then a Hall effort going wide for the hosts.

The Lobsters retook the lead on the hour mark, great work by Evan Lopes who beat three Oak defenders eventually finding Fred Hill who fired home to make it 2-1.

The Lobsters had to show some character late on as the home side pushed for an equaliser, Anderson saw his shot deflected on to a post, and it was Anderson who should of made it 2-2 after good work by Marsh but he shot wide.

The Lobsters held on for the final whistle and will be in the hat for the second round.
