The Lobsters were the better side but Vale went onto win the game with a wonder strike.

Raynes Park Vale 1 Redhill 0 - Saturday, 29th January 2022

Redhill put in a very committed display away to Raynes Park Vale, another top-six side in the Premier Division South, on Saturday but Nes Bellikli's wonder strike on 68 minutes was enough to secure the points for the hosts on a windy afternoon in Grand Drive.

Jordan Gallagher chipped against the bar after eight minutes but it was the Lobsters who created nearly all the chances in the first half. Both Jamarie Brissett and Jack Knight could have scored twice before the latter was red-carded following a melee in the penalty area six minutes from the break.

In the second half ten-man Redhill played sensibly to contain any home attacks, keeping their shape well, and for a while it looked as though they might at least claim a point. Brissett, finally clear on the right, powered in a shot that Billy Bishop beat away on 66 minutes but two minutes later Bellikli's effort from distance soared into the top corner for the winner despite Jack Minchin getting his fingertips to it.

A fierce free-kick from Reds substitute Nathan Hogan near the end may have hit a hand in the wall inside the box but the referee didn't see anything untoward and the visitors went on to suffer the disappointment of losing to Vale for the third time this season.

Redhill: Minchin, Edwards (Mackenzie), Tutt (Iqbal), Wadmore, Drinkwater, Dyett, Brissett, Murphy-McVey, Knight, King, Jarrett (Hogan)
