The Reds came from a goal down to pick up their first three points of 2022 with victory over Fleet Town.

Redhill 3 Fleet Town 2 - Saturday, 22nd January 2022

In their first home game for seven weeks Harrison Williams' Redhill were a goal down at the break to Fleet Town on Saturday but edged past the Hampshire side 3-2 after a spirited second-half display. The Reds slipped one place to fourth in the Premier Division South table but were only behind third-placed Beckenham Town on goal difference.

The Lobsters' new signing from Sutton Common Rovers, Brendan Murphy-McVey, quickly showed his class in midfield. Like all good players he was relaxed in possession and put in an early right-footer from outside the box to test 'keeper Hardcastle. But Redhill were unlucky to go behind on 20 minutes after the referee had waived away appeals for what seemed an obvious foul on Joe Dyett. They were in trouble as soon as Beauchamp wriggled free of the defence, Tom Drinkwater nudging him over to concede a penalty that Oram converted.

A low Jamarie Brissett effort was deflected inches wide two minutes before half-time but the determined Reds were level just five minutes into the second period, the irrepressible Jack Knight charging through to bludgeon a shot past Hardcastle. The momentum was now clearly with Redhill but they had to wait until the 70th minute to take the lead, Drinkwater side-footing into the net after Dyett had headed Murphy-McVey's free-kick down to him.

The Lobsters looked to have made the game safe six minutes from time. Dyett again got his head to a Murphy-McVey free-kick, the ball hitting a post before Knight had his shot blocked and Drinkwater followed up to make it 3-1. Wensley netted for Fleet during a scramble in the last minute of normal time but an exhausted Redhill held on for a victory that kept them in the hunt for promotion.
