Redhill 2 Sheerwater 1 - Saturday, 9th April 2022

Redhill completed a Premier South double over Sheerwater from the Woking area with a 2-1 win at Kiln Brow on Saturday. Walton and Beckenham are well clear at the top of the table with promotion in their sights but after three wins on the bounce the Lobsters could even claim third spot with a strong finish to the season.

The first 25 minutes were relatively uneventful in terms of chances against mid-table Sheerwater, who had former Lobsters Danyaal Iqbal and Kieran Campbell in their ranks. The only Redhill effort really worthy of note was a bullet of a shot from Jamarie Brissett following a Joe Jarrett corner that Sheers 'keeper Mickley flew across his goal to punch away. Then the Reds suddenly conjured up two goals in two minutes and it was the "Magic Man" who notched the first, stealing in behind the defence and taking the ball round Mickley for his 13th goal of the campaign.

Then Jason Kaate found himself in the clear on the left, unselfishly squaring for Derick Hayford to win a lunge for the ball with a defender close to the line and force it in for 2-0. But the Lobsters weren't home and dry yet, Sheers midfielder Pooley keeping them in the picture with a low 25-yarder that took a heavy deflection on its way past Jack Minchin before half-time.

The visitors made a better job of matching Redhill in the second period but it was the home side who came closest to scoring, a right-foot blast from Kaate striking the bar. A Reds defence that has conceded just twice in the last five games stood firm until the end to clinch that hat-trick of wins.

Redhill: Minchin, Edwards, Stone, Jarrett, McNamee, Dyett, Hayford (Copeland), Monga (Atkins), Kaate (McCarthy), Brissett, Watson (Peacock)
