Nathan Hogans last gasp free kick secured Redhill all three points in the opening game of the 2021/22 season!

Harrison Williams' Redhill started their season in the new Combined Counties League Premier South with a big three points as they edged Colliers Wood 2-1 at the Brow last night. But the Lobsters left it late to net the clincher, Nathan Hogan's swerving free-kick proving too hot to handle for Wood 'keeper Maddock in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Typically the home side started on the front foot, skipper Joe Dyett almost squeezing the ball home at the far post from Hogan's left-wing corner and Hogan himself being upended inside the box in full view of the referee who didn't deem it worthy of a penalty. But the visitors began to put some speedy attacks together and Redhill were soon at full stretch as Jack Minchin brilliantly turned aside Foranah's fierce low shoot and a Hay effort thudded against the bar.

Play was more even in the second half, the Lobsters threatening more with their front players closer together. A number of dribbles down the right by Noe Vendrells brought no reward until the winger was sent flying in the box for a penalty on 65 minutes and Aiden Brown, cool as ever from the spot, fired into the bottom left corner for 1-0. Seven minutes from the end of the ninety Wood were awarded a penalty of their own after a Dyett lunge that earned him a booking and substitute Andrews converted with aplomb.

Deep into added time Lobsters winger Hogan did what he does best, firing a free-kick past a substantial wall and into the far corner of the net via Maddock's left hand for the winner. He did a knee slide towards the corner flag and the Brow was rocking.
