Knaphill 2 Redhill 1 - Saturday, 26th November 2022

Redhill were a little unlucky to come away from Knaphill with nothing after losing 2-1 in Saturday's fourth v sixth clash at Redding Way.

With 15 minutes to go the Lobsters were a goal up through Carl Oblitey's super strike and Tom Theobald had saved a Knappers spot-kick. Then things started to unravel for the visitors at both ends of the pitch as Knaphill scored twice - the second another penalty - either side of Freddie Taylor hitting the bar with a spectacular effort from 30 yards.

The Reds were on the front foot in the early minutes, home 'keeper Jos Barker having to beat away skipper Antonio Simeone's acrobatic left-foot volley. Oblitey then put them deservedly in front on 28 minutes as he managed to keep possession with two defenders snapping at him before firing a crisp right-footer just inside a post.

Knaphill improved after the break but there was something unsatisfactory about their first penalty award on 58 minutes. Lynden McGugan was lying on the ground in the 'D', apparently with a head injury, as David Orisatoki committed the foul. But Theobald rescued the Reds by leaping to his left to palm away Dan Bone's firm kick.

In the last quarter of an hour either side could have won this absorbing contest. Knappers substitute Nathan Thomas equalised, Taylor almost immediately struck the woodwork - Jason Kaate narrowly failed to turn in the rebound - and Zac Horkan won it for Knaphill eight minutes from time with a penalty after Theobald had upended Thomas.
