An early Becks onslaught saw the home side take all three points.

Beckenham Town 3 Redhill 1 - Saturday, 15th January 2022

Redhill dropped to third in the Premier Division South table after a 3-1 defeat to Beckenham Town at Eden Park Avenue on Saturday. The Becks moved up to fifth and ominously had five games in hand on Harrison Williams' men.

The Lobsters, in their normal all-yellow away strip, endured a torrid first 25 minutes as an energised home side raced into a 3-0 lead. Nyhus and Townsend had already missed the target by inches when Joe Healy fired in a 25-yarder that drifted beyond Jack Minchin's dive to his left on nine minutes. Almost immediately Nick Curran's shot was deflected in as the Becks doubled their lead and Louie Theophanous, the ex-Millwall and AFC Wimbledon striker, blasted in a third after a strong run.

Despite being on the receiving end for most of the half, Redhill created two good chances of their own. Jack Knight slammed a left-footer wide with only 'keeper Nick Blue to beat after Alfie Huckle had set him up and a minute from half-time Blue did well to push Jamarie Brissett's effort behind.

A much closer second half was noteworthy for a plethora of yellow cards. They even included one for Minchin as he handled the ball, perhaps inadvertently, when he was well outside the box. The Reds piled forward in the closing stages to try and narrow the home side's advantage and they were rewarded seven minutes from time.

An injured Becks player was lying on the ground in a crowded box, the home defence thought the ball had gone out for a goal-kick as Jayden Edwards flicked it into the air, Knight was stretching for it but Tom Drinkwater came in behind him to nod the ball down into the net.

Redhill: Minchin, Mackenzie, Kenlock (Edwards), Huckle (Lowe), Drinkwater, Upton, Brissett, Jarrett, Knight, King, Hogan (Iqbal)
